What is a Naturopath?

A Naturopath is a health & wellness practitioner who believes in harnessing the natural power of the body to heal itself, through natural and holistic means. They assume that the body naturally strives for wellness and stability and that with a little support, the body will maintain a state of good health. To achieve this balance a naturopath places emphasis on preventative medicine and the importance of a healthy diet, clean fresh water, sunlight, exercise and stress management.

Health Screening

Naturopathy places a heavy focus on preventative medicine and at getting to the root cause of a problem, rather than treating the symptoms alone. In order to better determine your underlying health issues your naturopath will want to know about your diet, lifestyle, family background and environment, as well as the history of your illness or complaint. This information is important your naturopath who seeks to discover the cause of the illness and treat you as a whole person, rather than the symptoms you present.

They may also choose from a number of health screening tools in their assessment.  These can range from standard pathology testing to iridology, salivary hormones, hair analysis, live blood analysis, kinesiology and much more.

Natural Therapies

Naturopathy is a holistic approach to health and can be both preventative and curative. Your naturopath will aim to first minimise any acute symptoms or discomfort you may be experiencing, then support your body’s capacity to self-heal, re-balance your body so that illness is less likely to occur in the future and finally educate you to look after your own health.

Depending on your individual needs your naturopath will recommend an individual treatment plan tailored just for you.  They may choose from a range of natural therapies and treatments including nutritional supplements, diet plan, herbal remedies, homoeopathy, massage therapies, counselling and more.
