Iridology began in Hungary in 1861 when Ignatz Peczely found an owl with a broken leg. He noticed a stripe of black in the iris of the owl. After nursing the owl's leg back to health he noticed the stripe of black was replaced with fine, crooked white lines. Years later when the boy became a doctor, he began to realise that his patients had similar irregularities in their irises. The differences depended on the type and stage of illness. Over time he charted a map of the iris/body relation.
Iridology is a quick, accurate and painless system of health analysis through the examination of the colored part of the eye known as the iris. Believed to be "windows of the soul", the eyes are now acknowledged as mirrors of the body.
The various colours, markings and patterns in the iris reflect the physical state of health of each organ and system. Over many years of clinical observation and intensive research an iris chart, similar to a map has been developed that represents the placement of body organs and tissues.
The eye works in two ways; they enable us to bring images of the outside world within, and also show images of what is within the body to the outside world. Iridology may be explained through the fact that your eyes are merely an extension of your brain. The iris is composed of the same tissue as the brain and is connected to every organ and tissue of the body through the brain and nervous system. When an imbalance occurs within an organ or tissue, the iris will reflect this imbalance as markings and color variations.
Iridology does not show or name a specific disease. The patterns, structures, colours and degrees of lightness and darkness in the iris can tell if an area of the body is inherently strong or weak, it can also reveal signs of stress and inflammation, irritation, injury or degeneration of the tissues and organs. Toxic accumulation and nutritional imbalances can also be seen.
